The Law Department provides all legal services for the City of Gary, including legal counsel and representation to City departments and officials. The Law Department prepares and reviews contracts, ordinances and other legal documents.

The Law Department CANNOT provide legal advice to members of the public.

In addition, the Law Department prosecutes persons accused of violating City ordinances.

If you have a claim against the city (such as a pothole claim) please print, complete, and submit the Notice of Claim form to the Law Department for evaluation claims@gary.gov.
