Downpayment Assistance Program

The City of Gary has entered into a cooperative agreement with the Indianapolis Housing Agency to implement a new homebuyer assistance program called the Hoosier Homes Program. Repeat and first-time homebuyers can receive down payment assistance grants with their home mortgages.The Hoosier Homes Program is available to anyone purchasing a home in the City of Gary whose income does not exceed 140% of Lake County’s median income ($105,700).

This program offers just another option for expanding single family home purchases in the city.The City of Gary remains committed to cultivating a thriving community through programs that support homeownership and offer a broad range of housing choice.
