Mission Statement

The Media & Communications Department of the City of Gary is committed to fostering transparency, educating the public, and continuously improving the dissemination of information. The department manages and maintains multiple communication channels, including the city’s official website, social media platforms, as well as the streaming of public meetings and programming of public access television.

In serving the public, the team strives to elevate the quality and accessibility of information for all stakeholders. To this end the department releases timely and accurate updates, acts as the primary point of contact for all news media, and leverages modern communication methods and tools to effectively inform and engage the community.

MISSION OF PUBLIC ACCESS TV

The City of Gary’s public access TV provides a platform for community engagement, transparency, and education by broadcasting local government meetings, community events, and educational programming. Our mission is to ensure that all residents have access to important city information and community content.

Today, many Gary residents are using online streaming services instead of cable. To stay connected, download the Gary TV Channel on Roku TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV to watch City of Gary on-demand content. You can also watch public meetings on Gary’s official Facebook and YouTube pages.

To submit content for programming, please ensure that your material is relevant to the Gary community, adheres to all copyright laws, and is free of offensive or inappropriate language or images.

Video footage will only be accepted in digital form and in 16:9 aspect ratio.
Footage submitted in 4:3 aspect ration or via DVD/Video Cassette will no longer be accepted.
