Ordinance Requirements Sec. 2-1440. - Members.

(a)    The city plan commission of the city shall consist of nine members. Five members shall be citizens of the city who shall be qualified by knowledge or experience in matters pertaining to the development of the city and who shall not hold any other office in the city government, and who shall be appointed by the mayor, and of whom not more than three shall be members of the same political party.

The remaining four members shall be chosen as follows:

-one member shall be a member of the common council to be selected by it;

-one member shall be a member of the board of park commissioners to be selected by that board;

-one member shall be a member of the board of public works and safety or shall be a designated representative of the board of public works and safety to be selected by that board; and

-one member shall be the city civil engineer.

The terms of the representatives from the common council and board of park commissioners shall expire with the termination of their respective terms of office, unless the council or board, at its first regular meeting of each year, appoints another to serve as its representative.

(b)

The citizen members of the commission shall hold office for the term provided by law. The expiration date of each appointment shall be shown in the certificate of appointment.

(c)

The members of the city plan commission may receive a salary or a per diem allowance for each day they attend a commission meeting; and shall be entitled to reimbursement for all expenses necessarily incurred in the performance of their duties.
