City of Gary Public Works Receives a Donation of Two Dump Trucks from Indiana American Water

Indiana American Water gives back to the people of Gary creating safer roads for all

Gary, IND. Indiana American Water, one of the state's leading providers of water and wastewater services, has announced its donation of two dump trucks to the City of Gary. The trucks can be used for any application the city sees fit but will be instrumental in supporting the city's snow removal efforts, particularly during the winter months when efficient snow plowing and salting operations are crucial for maintaining safe road conditions.

The donation of these two trucks underscores Indiana American Water's commitment to supporting the communities it serves and ensuring their safety and well-being year-round. By providing these essential vehicles to the City of Gary, Indiana American Water aims to enhance the city's capabilities in managing snowfall and maintaining road safety for residents and commuters.

"We are very appreciative to have partners and stakeholders like Indiana American Water here in Gary supporting us," said Michael Suggs, Chief Operating Officer for the City of Gary. "The recent storms we had caused a lot of debris like fallen branches, limbs and trees, which caused logistics issues with our city. Fortunately, we now have these trucks that can help us clear the roads and ensure that our residents can get to their doctor's appointments, get to the store and take their children to school. We appreciate Indiana American Water for helping us take care of our community."

The trucks donated by Indiana American Water can be used for spreading salt, plowing or used at the city’s discretion for various applications beyond snow removal, further enhancing their utility. Both trucks are 2010 International 7400 severe duty trucks produced by Navistar, Inc. and have been recently serviced for immediate use.

"We had the unique privilege to sit down with Mayor Eddie Melton and talk about the ways we can be a good corporate citizen to the City of Gary and the mayor highlighted a need for some trucks," said Justin Mount, Manager of Operations at Indiana American Water. "Gary is a large geographical area and the mayor wants to make sure that the city has enough equipment needed to serve the citizens of Gary. We found a way to deliver some trucks to him to help him do that job."

Indiana American Water remains committed to supporting the communities it serves through initiatives that promote safety, resilience, and overall well-being. The company's donation of two dump trucks to the City of Gary exemplifies its dedication to being a reliable partner in community development and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
