COMEDIAN MIKE EPPS AND MAYOR-ELECT EDDIE MELTON HOST SNEAKER GIVEAWAY

Comedian Mike Epps and Mayor-Elect Eddie Melton host sneaker giveaway for local Boys & Girls Clubs members

The holiday sneaker giveaway is a private event for families selected by Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana.

GARY, IN (DECMBER 19, 2023) Celebrated comedian and actor Mike Epps, in collaboration with incoming Mayor Eddie Melton, is hosting a community-driven initiative intended to provide essential shoes and holiday cheer to young people in need.

The event is Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at John Will Anderson Boys & Girls Club located at 2700 W 19th Ave. in Gary, Ind.

Epps, an Indianapolis native, is known for his genuine commitment to uplifting communities. He has donated thousands of dollars to empower and rebuild communities, including putting new athletic shoes on the feet of children across the State of Indiana.

“With Christmas right around the corner, it is important that children are set up for success for the new year with a brand new pair of shoes,” stated Epps. “By coming together with mayor-elect Eddie Melton and a community organization like Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana, we can collectively positively impact young people’s lives and create an atmosphere of encouragement and unity.”

Mayor-elect Melton agrees with Epps, adding that such a grand gesture of philanthropy can change a young person’s life for the better.

“Some of our families are struggling to make ends meet, struggling to make the holidays special for the children,” Melton said. “To have a successful person like Mike Epps take time out of his busy schedule to come into our community and give back to our youth in such a way is heart-warming and amazing. I am honored to be a part of this holiday giveaway.”

The holiday sneaker giveaway is not open to the public. Families are being selected by Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana.
